Community for F# / Trees, Language-Oriented Programming and F#

Please RSVP for instructions on how to join the event.

Description

In this presentation Robert Pickering will take a look at the concept of the tree data structure, and we’ll see how trees are everywhere we look in programing — from XML to lisp, and passing by indexes in RMDS. He will first look at the various different ways a tree can be represented in F# and how F#’s pattern matching makes working with trees easy. He’ll then go on to look at how tree data structures relate to language oriented programming. The aim of this presentation is to show that although a tree may look like a dull computer science concept at first glance, it’s actually key to enabling productive and high-level programming in F#.
