What version of F# are you using? Even (|NodeType|) doesn't work for me on F# 1.9.9.9, and I believe that this is by design (see [link:stackoverflow.com]

Well it seems you are right. With version 1.9.9.9 I get a quite obscure error message "not a valid name for an active pattern". I guess there are good reasons to exclude this possibility but the ability to overload recognizers was nice.

Currently i'm on 1.9.6.16 and it works for me. Also I'm quite happy that it does and would be saddened if this possibility was removed. This allows me to overload recognizers and avoid silly names.

Guess I'll have to download the latest version and see.
